Castello del Capitano dell’Artiglieria is an integral part of the fortress city of Terra del Sole. Dating back to 1564, it has always been privately owned and dominates Porta Fiorentina. Its architecture, clearly Renaissance, is still beautifully preserved.
The structure includes: the captain’s district and a set of residences and representation rooms decorated with beautifully painted wooden ceilings, dated 1587; suggestive are the crossing tunnels that allowed the garrisons to move from one bastion to another without crossing the castle.
Today a part of the Castle is used as a bed and breakfast and as a location for private parties.
