Palazzo Fantini

TREDOZIOHISTORIC BUILDINGS
Enriched by the beautiful Italian garden

Walking through the streets of the center of Tredozio you reach Palazzo Fantini, historical residence of a noble family that has lived there for centuries. The elegant structure dates back to around 1500 and the Fantini family settled there in 1750.

The Palace was erected on the foundations of older houses and today, inside, houses the Museo della Civiltà Contadina and the “Panciatichi” Library. The building overlooks a wonderful Italian garden raised above the floor of the house and accessible only by a long staircase along a large wall of support. This was designed in the 1800s and consists of secret alleys, fountains with water lilies and hedges designed following rigorous geometric shapes.

In the highest part of the garden there is a large variety of trees such as holm oaks, horse chestnut trees, linden trees, oaks and meadows with wild flowers. This part is very evocative because it gets lost in the rock garden that is adorned with stairways, reserved paths and walls according to the classic nineteenth-century and romantic style. In recent years a space dedicated to aromatic herbs has been designed and built.
