Accademia degli Animosi commissioned, in 1792, the construction of this theater from the Doric-Tuscan style, then restored in 1900 to provide it with lighting. In 1938, the Accademia degli Animosi broke up and the complex was bought by the Dopolavoro Ferroviario.
During the war the front part and the vault of the Mokambo hall were destroyed, but after a quick reconstruction the theater continued to operate until 1970 when it was closed due to inability. The theater reopened after a restoration that lasted 20 years but only in 1997 it was again equipped with the front part with a ticket office and a cloakroom.
