The Capanna del Partigiano, or Pian Porcello refuge, located on Mount Lavane, can be reached by taking the CAI path number 533, also known as the “Sentiero dei bramiti”.
In July 1944, near the Monte Lavane, a battle took place between the German armies and the partisans of the Banda Corbari, occupied in the recovery of the weapons parachuted by allied airplanes.
The most interesting itinerary, to go to the place of the battle, takes off from Farfareta, a place accessible by car. Having taken the CAI path n.533, which crosses the village of Crognole, we arrive at the Poggio Giuliano hut and finally at the Capanna del Partigiano, at an altitude of 1,203 meters.
The CAI path then continues up to the summit of the Lavane (1.241m).
The path to reach the hut is not too long, but the difference in altitude is about 600 meters. The average duration for one way is about 2 hours walk; in the presence of snow times are going to lengthen and it is good to be equipped with snowshoes.
