From Via Marecchiese of Balze begins a trail that reaches the Eremo di S. Alberico, a place dedicated to spirituality. The uphill road creeps into a dense beech forest and runs along the 14 stations of the Via Crucis, built in 1915 by Don Francesco Dezzi of Falera. Continuing, the mule track is composed of huge slabs and widens.
After passing the pass, you must go down on a beaten ground at the bottom of which stands the Eremo di S. Alberico, surrounded by walls and woods. The Hermitage is accessed by a gate that overlooks a courtyard where the tomb of the hermit Quintino Sicuro is kept.
Not far away is a small church where the tibia of Sant’Alberico is preserved, venerated by the many faithful who come here on pilgrimage.
