The dam and the ecomuseum are located in the heart of the National Park of the Casentino Forests
The Idro-Ecomuseum can be called a “diffused museum”, as the headquarters is completed by the Ridracoli dam.
The structure was opened to the public in the summer of 2004 and includes several exhibition halls where water and territory are protagonists.
Ridracoli Dam is an engineering work that fits perfectly into the surrounding environment and supports the water needs of the territory. The barrier measures a height of 103.5 m and a length of 432 m and its flow is 33 billion liters of water.
Near the dam there are three thematic poles: technological, landscape and naturalistic that tell the history of the hydraulic work and deepen issues such as control systems applied to manage the structure.
