After the miracle that saw as protagonist a tablet depicting the Madonna and several saints, which according to the story came alive and saw the Madonna pour tears from her eyes and drops of milk from the breast, was built the Chiesa di Santa Maria dei Miracoli. This church was opposed to the Abbazia di S. Ellero, which, despite its reputation, was affected by the decentralized position.
Chiesa dei Miracoli is in Renaissance style and inside it houses a small temple consisting of columns with Corinthian capitals and there is a single nave where, today, the miracle tablet is venerated. Along the side walls of the church there are several altars that hold paintings such as “La Visitazione” by Giovanni Stradano, a Deposition of the Vasarian school, a fresco with the Annunciation and Saints and a painting by Matteo Confortini depicting the Assumption of the Virgin.
