Via dei Romei

GALEATAITINERARIES-FAITH
The millennial trail which accompanied the pilgrims to Rome

The via dei Romei is a millenary trail which accompanied the pilgrims to Rome. The route departed from Brennero, crossed the Veneto and the Romagna to then overcome the Apennines and arrive in Tuscany. From here we continued in the Casentino, Arezzo and Florence, or towards Urbino, Gubbio and then Rome.

The part of the path that crosses the Romagna Toscana, winds along the upper Valley of Savio, the eastern part of the National Park and of the Casentino forests, mount Zuccherodante, the historic Step of Serra, and the river Savio coming down from vergheretino. This route was also important for the trade between Romagna and Tuscany at least until they opened the road of Mandrioli, in 1880.
