«Maria Virginia Fabroni» 6th edition of the Poetry Competition “The cry of Gaia/ in aid to the Earth”
Tredozio country of poetry. The birthplace of Maria Virginia Fabroni celebrates the poet with an Annual Poetry Competition.
Who was Maria Virginia Fabroni?
She is a 19th-century poet who died of tuberculosis at the age of 26.
Born in Tredozio in 1851, she studied in Pisa where in 1868 she graduated in Harpsichord at the Conservatorio Sant’Anna.
Why is that important to Tredozio?
During her short life, Maria Virginia enlivened the cultural life of Tredozio. Although she was born in a small town in the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines, she is a modern woman who fully lives the difficulties of an era that relegates the female figure to a secondary role, compared to man.
