The chiesa di Santa Maria a Frena is located in the municipality of Firenzuola, near Monte Frena or Frenaio. The origins of the church date back to 1497 when it was located near Poggialto with the name of San Niccolò. Later it was transferred to the oratorio di Santa Maria and in 1789 it was completely restored.
