The dam and the ecomuseum are located in the heart of the Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi.
The ecomuseum can be defined as a “widespread museum”, as the headquarters are completed with the Ridracoli dam. The structure was opened to the public in the summer of 2004 and includes several exhibition rooms where the water and the territory are the protagonists. The Ridracoli Dam is an engineering work that fits perfectly into the surrounding environment and supports the territory’s water needs. The barrier measures a height of 103.5 m and a length of 432 m and its flow rate is 33 billion liters of water.
