Sarsina could not but dedicate a large square to Tito Maccio Plauto, who was born in the town. Largo, titled to the great Roman playwright, is a meeting place for all the sarsinati and also for foreigners.
The square extends in the place where, in Roman times, there was the forum and it closes where the beautiful loggia and the famous Basilica Cattedrale di San Viciniomeet. On the eastern side of the forum there were probably buildings dedicated to the cult and the remains are still visible. Other finds, however, are found in the courtyard of the bishopric located to the right of the cathedral.
In the square there are still traces of the ancient marble paving of Verona while the rest of the flooring is in alberese stone and is the result of a recent maintenance work.
