The town of Dovadola, developed at the foot of the castle of the Counts Guidi, in 1405 passed under the jurisdiction of the Florentine Republic and this outlined the definitive collapse of the Guidi family in the territory.
The historic center preserves several prestigious buildings. In addition to the Rocca and the Abbey of S. Andrea, the oratory of S. Antonio and S. Gennaro (an interesting example of sacred architecture from the 1700s), the Raineri Biscia palace and the Loggia del Comune are also worthy of note. The civic tower, on whose west façade a clock is placed, is located in P.zza Cesare Battisti.
