Cammino di Dante

PREMILCUOREITINERARIES-ART AND HISTORY
The route was a source of inspiration for the Divine Comedy

Emilia Romagna is dotted by numerous trails that were created to allow people and goods to move in the territory tosco romagnolo. Cammino di DAnte is part of this ancient road network and today is retraced through an organized itinerary. Goal of the journey is to follow the original medieval pathways that connected, at the time of the poet, Ravenna in Florence.

The path, about 395 km of which 207 km in Emilia Romagna, is shaped like a ring and connects the Romagna and Tuscany through the Casentino area. Milestones are 20 and paved roads to be travelled are reduced to a minimum.

The scenery that you encounter along the way are rich in historical and cultural references, and for this, a source of inspiration for the Divine Comedy. The outward route is different from the back, to give way to visit the two most important valleys for transit in the middle ages.

The journey is not particularly difficult and some stretches are passable by mountain bike or on horseback.
